Lunàdigas is an exploration of the worlds of women who have chosen not to have children. This is a complex and little known dimension, containing surprising pulsations and motivations which vary deeply from one woman to another. Similar or contrasting emotions, often contradictory, all with bold outlines: convictions, pain, doubts, certainties, prejudices. Lunàdigas is set in Italy and recounts a broad swathe of women’s stories: famous and anonymous women, encountered alone or in groups, singles and couples, born before, during and after the Second World War, or today’s thirty-somethings, adamant in their choice not to have children. The faces and words of these women lead us on a journey through a century of Italian life, all the way down to the present day.
